How to Turn a Cargo Van Into Your Home in One Hundred Thousand Easy Steps : )

Here is a pictorial guide of my van conversion, starting in August 2019 and ending.... hmmm, I'll get back to you on that...

Start with one empty cargo van, nice and shiny.

Add some insulation to the floor to keep the sound down and keep you warm/cool...

Make a template of the floor with carpenter's paper

Lay the template on your insulation (rigid foam)

Install the rigid foam insulation on the van floor

Use the same template to cut your subfloor and install that over the insulation

Put every heavy thing you can find on the floor while the glue dries

Apply sound-deadening stick-on stuff to the wheel wells.  Don't touch it or it will stick to your fingers.  Then burnish into every crack and crevice, seam and fold with the roller... harder... harder... HARDER... HARDER!!!

Four hours later... your wheel wells will be covered and your arms will be killing you. But it's oh so quiet : )

And now build a box to cover all that sound-proofing goodness.

These will actually turn into handy storage boxes for miscellaneous things!

Okay, that was easy.  (In reality, it took about 3 days to accomplish this.  I was demoralized.  How was I EVER going to get this done?!)

Next up... the walls.
